A wonderfully detailed and realistic brooch from artist Pat Pearlman. The artist worked in the lost-wax casting method, in which the original designs were carved out of wax and then a multi-step process was taken to create the jewelry molds. Something of an adventuress, Pearlman established her first brick and mortar in 1971 and operated in several locations, including California, Alaska & Hawaii for 50+ years before closing. Currently, she has a small collection available online (I adore her otter jewelry). This brooch depicts feathery foliage & twining stems that support the paper-like poppy blossoms and buds. It measures 2 1/2" long x 7/8" at the widest x 1/4" deep. Marked on the reverse "Sterling" and Pearlman's doubled infinity logo. Weighs 9.1 grams. The locking mechanism is in good working order & the brooch, itself, is in beautiful vintage condition.
